In order to develop students's leaderhip skills, USHS also has it's students council organization which is named as Students Body Organization (SBO) that has it's own committee structure consists of choosen students from grade 7 until 10.
1.3 Teaching System
For the lesson, USHS has active days from Monday until Friday, so Saturday and Sunday is holiday for both the teachers and students, although some would have extraculiculler or other activities at school on weekends. In class, they have 30 minutes for one meeting hour, and because most of the subjects have two meeting hours, so it would be about 1 hour for one meeting for each subjects. The allocation of each subject's meeting hour in one week is different from each other so they have different sum of meeting hour in one week for each subject. The school starts at 07.30 am and go home at 05.00 pm the students spent about nine and a half hour at school, minus the break time for one and a half hour, half hour from 09.30 am until 10.00, and one hour from 00.00 am until 01.00 am, so the students study for about eight hours at school everyday.
In each year, the schedule for the all activities has been organized carefully for the entire school year as the USHS ACADEMIC CALENDAR.

1.4 Materials and Other Learning Sources
The teachers in USHS mostly
using English text book and power point, as english is the second languege in
this school. But sometimes some teachers also except the english teachers also
use tagalog language to help them explaining more complex materials. They also
use pictures, videos and some games that is still connected to the topic of
that day, to get the students’s interest.
1.5 Curriculum
All the schools in Phillipine are using K
to 12 curriculum means education obligatory start from Kindergarten to 12th
Grade. It has been implanted in Philippine's educational system since four years ago by the DepEd (Department of Education).
(Example of Science Curriculum Guide from Kindergarten until Junior High School) |
As for the lesson in class, the teachers use both English and Tagalog, but for the English subjects, most of the teachers implemented “English Only Policy” where the students are allowed to speak in English only.
